WRITE A BRIEF NOTE OPPOSING THE PROPOSED REGULATIONS. USE THE POINTS BELOW TO GUIDE YOUR NOTE.
There is a very reliable test of commercial urine that is being used by the major manufacturers. The RT-QuIC test is reliable in testing for the presence of CWD prions as a final confirmation these products are safe.
The Responsible Hunting Scent Association—Deer Protection Program is a very robust certification process, going above and beyond state and federal regulations and requires third party RT-QuIC testing of all urine before it is distributed in hunting scent products.
These certified and tested products are easily to find and identify with the packaging displaying the RT-QuIC tested logo and DPP (Deer Protection Program) checkmark.
Hunting scents do not congregate deer like bait or feed. Deer are very social animals and already urinate and spread their scent all over the woods. Banning the use of hunting scent will not reduce spread of CWD.
Using natural deer scents is a long-standing tradition for Pennsylvania hunters and taking away that tool when there is a method to ensure its safe continuance is not a service to the resource.
URINE BASED SCENTS ARE NOT A RISK PLAIN AND SIMPLE.
